Photo Art Gallery Magic Hour Competition


In photography the magic hour is the first and last hour of sunlight during the day. Colours are warm, scenes are beautifully lit and for a brief time, the world looks quite literally magical.

The Competition is open to all members of the Ph.Art Gallery – all members aged 14 and over, except employees of the Ph.Art Gallery (or related bodies corporate), and members of their immediate families and agencies associated with this Competition.
The competition is open to members of Ph.Art Gallery, amateur, novice, semi-professional and/or professional photographer (it is open to any person who has a passion for photography).

Dates of Competition
The competition commences 30th July 2009. All entries must be uploaded to the Promoter’s website at before 8.00am Australian EST on Monday 31st August 2009.
Entries will not be acknowledged or returned. Participants have the obligation to ensure entries are received and can remove them from the Gallery on completion of the competition should they wish to do so.

Entry Method
To enter, participants must:
• Complete the Entry details at www.photoartgallery Magic Hour competition portal.
• Take a digital photograph(s) and
• Upload said photo(s) via the portal

Ownership of Entries
The copyright of all images remains that of the photographer and the terms and conditions of that ownership are governed by the standard General Membership Agreement, Private Gallery Agreement, Public Gallery Agreement or Collectors Gallery Agreement, which each member agrees to upon joining the Gallery and submitting images to the nominated gallery. All agreements are readily available on the site for members to review.

Imagine a new world

Photographers are asked to dig deep in their imagination and provide an original work where they express their vision of a “new world”.

The European Commission is inviting all professional and amateur photographers, photography students and all other talents to submit their photographs to the “Imagine a new world” photo competition. It is open to anyone who is resident of an EU Member State or candidate country or of Iceland, Liechtenstein or Norway and who shares our passion for photography. This is an opportunity for you to express what creativity and innovation means to you.

To participate in the competition, you need to use your camera to show others your vision of the future. Take pictures of what you think the future holds for you, Europe or the world.

General requirements

1. The competition is open to all professional and amateur photographers who are residents of an EU Member State or candidate country or of Iceland, Liechtenstein or Norway, regardless of their sex, age or nationality (officials and other persons employed by the European Institutions – including the Agencies – and their families are not eligible to participate to the competition).
2. Participants are asked to submit 2-4 images related to the theme “Imagine a new world”
3. To enter all participants must complete the official entry Form online.
4. When submitting entries, participants confirm that the material is their own and copyright has not been violated.
5. Participants must get written consent from any individuals depicted in the photographs submitted. You can download a consent form here. For underage people you need the authorisation of their parents.
6. All participants agree to allow the European Commission to use their photographs for information and promotional purposes.
7. The deadline to enter the competition is 31 August 2009.

Technical requirements

1. The photographs can be in colour or in monochrome and taken with a digital or film camera (if film is used, the photographs must be submitted as digital scans). You have the right to edit your picture including manipulating colour or composition, montage, collage or touching-up, re-sharpening or correcting the tonal value.
2. Photographs must be submitted by being digitally uploaded through the online entry form in both of the following presentations:
* previews (255×369 pixel / 9×13 cm in 72 dpi) uploaded in the online entry form in either JPEG or TIF format; and
* digital photographs (minimum 21×29,7 cm (DIN A4) / 2480×3508 pixel, maximum 7016×9933 pixel / 59.4×84.1 cm in 300dpi – please do not extrapolate) uploaded through the online entry form in either JPEG or TIF format.
3. Contributions must have a title and can include a short explanation using a maximum of 150 characters.

Resource Magazine + WIN-Initiative’s 10 BEST 10 International Competition is a definitive showcase of the very best of contemporary photography. This free-to-enter juried photo competition offers excellent exposure to both leading edge and emerging photographers that like to think outside the box. The competition is open to any creative photo artist and the subject matter may range, but we’re mostly interested in your cutting-edge personal and commercial work. Resource Magazine and WIN-Initiative have provided an opportunity for peer review of your work by five amazing judges, each influential in their field of expertise. Winners will be selected on the basis of concept and originality.

There is no charge to participate in the competition. All entries must consist of a minimum of five images, maximum of ten.

To enter your submissions electronically, please visit register. Once the registration process has been completed, you will receive an e-mail confirmation. Simply log in to photo contest site, and follow the online instructions to upload images from your computer.
Lo-Res submissions must be 1-2 MB with 300 dpi compressed JPEG maximum quality files, flattened, no layers, paths or channels. Images must be 24 bit RGB Color, 8 bits per channel. Adobe 1998 color settings. Submitted JPEG files will not be returned.
All winning images must be delivered in hi-res. Please do not submit your images if they do not reach the following specifications: Hi-Res must be 47.5-52 MB, approximately 11″x17″ 300 dpi compressed JPEG maximum quality files, flattened, no layers, paths or channels. Hi-Res images must be 24 bit RGB Color, 8 bits per channel. Adobe 1998 workspace color settings.

Concurs de fotografie

Fa o poza! Surprinde in imagini ignoranta care distruge mediul inconjurator!

Inutile masini de teren de sute de cai putere care murdaresc ireversibil aerul pe care il respiri? Terase ridicate nonsalant in mijlocul parcurilor? Blocuri turn sau cartiere rezidentiale construite pe locul spatiilor verzi unde ai copilarit? Ignoranti la gratar in mijlocul unei arii protejate?

Concursul pe care ti-l propunem te invita sa surprinzi in imagini ignoranta oamenilor din jurul tau. Trimite-ne la imagini cu lucrurile inutile care murdaresc aerul si omoara mediul inconjurator.
Cele mai expresive dintre ele vor fi premiate pe masura:

Premiul 1 – o bicicleta, alternativa eco de luat in seama atunci cand mergi la scoala/serviciu
Premiul 2 – o pereche de role, in cazul in care nu-ti plac bicicletele
Premiul 3 – o pereche de pantofi sport, cu care sa mergi mai mult pe jos

Desfasurarea concursului

Concursul se va desfasura pana la 1 septembrie 2009, castigatorii fiind anuntati pe 7 septembrie. Fotografiile trimise in afara acestor date nu vor intra in concurs. Participantii vor trimite nu mai mult de trei fotografii in format digital, alb-negru sau color, la adresa de e-mail . Fiecare e-mail va contine numele corect al participantului, o scurta legenda a fotografiilor, precum si datele lor de contact la adresa de e-mail. Toate fotografiile vor fi postate pe web site-ul la sectiunea concurs foto. Castigatorii vor fi alesi de catre un juriu care va fi alcatuit de cate un reprezentant al organizatorilor. Vor fi premiate cele trei fotografii care au inregistrat cele mai multe voturi din partea juriului.


Concurs de fotografie pentru studenti

Cu ocazia implinirii a 100 de ani de existenta la nivel mondial, L’Oréal Romania a lansat un proiect dedicat studentilor constand intr-un concurs de fotografie cu tema “Romania, esti frumoasa!”.

Prin lansarea proiectului “Romania, esti frumoasa!”, L’Oréal Romania cauta sa descopere si sa prezinte frumusetea prin ochii oamenilor, sa le dezvolte mandria de tara si sa aduca schimbare in viata a 100 de tineri studenti care vor primi, ca premiu, burse private in valoare totala de 200.000 RON.
Proiectul se va incheia in luna decembrie, printr-o expozitie.


1. Concursul se desfasoara in spatiul online. Studentii se pot inregistra pe un site dedicat special acestui eveniment,, pana pe data de 31 august.

2. Studentii pot intra in concurs publicand cel putin o fotografie care sa prezinte frumusetea Romaniei, in cel putin una dintre categoriile:
– Peisajele noastre
– Arhitectura noastra
– Oamenii nostri
– Obiecte de langa noi
– Alte frumuseti (inclusiv fotografie de strada, animale, traditii)

3. Toate fotografiile vor putea fi vazute si votate de publicul larg pe site.

4. Un juriu format din profesionisti, experti in frumusete, persoane marcante din Romania vor lua parte la procesul de votare. Membrii juriului sunt: Alexandru Abagiu (make up artist), Marius Baragan (fotograf), Mihaela Glavan (fashion stylist) , Florin Noje (hair stylist), Carol Capita (profesor universitar), Richard Matalon (Director General L’Oréal).

5. Voturile vizitatorilor site-ului vor avea o pondere de 20% in clasamentul final.

6. Inscrierile in concurs se incheie pe 30 august. In luna decembrie, L’Oréal Romania va inaugura o expozitie cu fotografiile castigatoare.

” (5) Organizatorul isi rezerva dreptul de a modifica sau inlocui prezentul Regulamentul in orice moment pe parcursul derularii Concursului. Orice modificare sau inlocuire a Regulamentului, inclusiv dar fara a se limita la regulile de participare la Concurs, mod de desfasurare a Concursului sau perioada de valabilitate a Concursului vor fi anuntate in prealabil, prin publicarea pe Site cu minimum 1 (una) zile lucratoare inainte de data intrarii in vigoare a respectivei modificari/inlocuiri.”

“(7) Prin inscrierea in Concurs a unor fotografii Participantii isi dau acordul ca drepturile lor patrimoniale de autorcelelalte drepturi intelectuale asupra fotografiilor respective sa fie pe deplin cesionate si protejate in favoarea Organizatorului, pe teritoriul Romaniei pentru intreaga perioada de protectie a acestora, fara nicun fel de plata sau alte obligatii suplimentare din partea Organizatorului, prezente sau viitoare. Ca urmare a cesiunii mentionate anterior, fotografiile inscrise in Concurs vor putea fi facute publice si folosite in materiale promotionale si publicitare de catre Organizator, acesta avand dreptul exclusiv sa stocheze, sa utilizeze si sa dispuna de respectivele fotografii in toate modalitatile, prezente sau viitoare. Organizatorul nu este raspunzator pentru materialele afisate de catre concurenti pe Site, acestia fiind singurii raspunzatori pentru folosirea unor materiale protejate de drepturi de autor, a unor materiale nelegale sau care ar putea vatama drepturile unor terti.”
