Photo Art Gallery Magic Hour Competition

In photography the magic hour is the first and last hour of sunlight during the day. Colours are warm, scenes are beautifully lit and for a brief time, the world looks quite literally magical.

Eligibility
The Competition is open to all members of the Ph.Art Gallery – all members aged 14 and over, except employees of the Ph.Art Gallery (or related bodies corporate), and members of their immediate families and agencies associated with this Competition.
The competition is open to members of Ph.Art Gallery, amateur, novice, semi-professional and/or professional photographer (it is open to any person who has a passion for photography).

Dates of Competition
The competition commences 30th July 2009. All entries must be uploaded to the Promoter’s website at www.photoartgallery.com before 8.00am Australian EST on Monday 31st August 2009.
Entries will not be acknowledged or returned. Participants have the obligation to ensure entries are received and can remove them from the Gallery on completion of the competition should they wish to do so.

Entry Method
To enter, participants must:
• Complete the Entry details at www.photoartgallery Magic Hour competition portal.
• Take a digital photograph(s) and
• Upload said photo(s) via the portal

Ownership of Entries
The copyright of all images remains that of the photographer and the terms and conditions of that ownership are governed by the standard General Membership Agreement, Private Gallery Agreement, Public Gallery Agreement or Collectors Gallery Agreement, which each member agrees to upon joining the Gallery and submitting images to the nominated gallery. All agreements are readily available on the site for members to review.

Workshop de fotografie in Delta Dunarii

Prima dintre fotoaventurile Lanului de Secară va avea ca suport Delta Dunării, într-o croazieră cu punct de plecare Tulcea, în perioada 29-30 august 2009.
Iniţiativa Structural Network se va bucura de prezenţa domnilor Dinu Lazăr şi Francisc Vaida, într-o tematică de fotografie fashion şi abordări peisagistice în lumină naturală.

De ce bărbaţii fotografiază mai uşor decât femeile ( autor Alina Andrei ) :

1. Pentru că nu poartă fuste lungi (nu trebuie să le ţină cu o mână când bate vântul).
2. Pentru că nu poartă fuste scurte şi nici tocuri (prin urmare se pot apleca sau lungi pe caldarâm pentru a poza trecătorii de la genunchiul broaştei).
3. Nu au în rucsac decât aparatul şi accesorii foto.
4. Nu cară după ei, în geantă, cărţi, ceşti, rujuri, cutii, reviste, ciocolată, portocale, ţigări, eşarfe, parfum, ambalaje rupte, carneţele, pixuri, foi, nasturi, pietre mici, rotunde, grăunţe pentru păsări, frunze uscate, tricouri cu mâneci lungi.

Imagine a new world

Photographers are asked to dig deep in their imagination and provide an original work where they express their vision of a “new world”.

The European Commission is inviting all professional and amateur photographers, photography students and all other talents to submit their photographs to the “Imagine a new world” photo competition. It is open to anyone who is resident of an EU Member State or candidate country or of Iceland, Liechtenstein or Norway and who shares our passion for photography. This is an opportunity for you to express what creativity and innovation means to you.

To participate in the competition, you need to use your camera to show others your vision of the future. Take pictures of what you think the future holds for you, Europe or the world.

General requirements

1. The competition is open to all professional and amateur photographers who are residents of an EU Member State or candidate country or of Iceland, Liechtenstein or Norway, regardless of their sex, age or nationality (officials and other persons employed by the European Institutions – including the Agencies – and their families are not eligible to participate to the competition).
2. Participants are asked to submit 2-4 images related to the theme “Imagine a new world”
3. To enter all participants must complete the official entry Form online.
4. When submitting entries, participants confirm that the material is their own and copyright has not been violated.
5. Participants must get written consent from any individuals depicted in the photographs submitted. You can download a consent form here. For underage people you need the authorisation of their parents.
6. All participants agree to allow the European Commission to use their photographs for information and promotional purposes.
7. The deadline to enter the competition is 31 August 2009.

Technical requirements

1. The photographs can be in colour or in monochrome and taken with a digital or film camera (if film is used, the photographs must be submitted as digital scans). You have the right to edit your picture including manipulating colour or composition, montage, collage or touching-up, re-sharpening or correcting the tonal value.
2. Photographs must be submitted by being digitally uploaded through the online entry form in both of the following presentations:
* previews (255×369 pixel / 9×13 cm in 72 dpi) uploaded in the online entry form in either JPEG or TIF format; and
* digital photographs (minimum 21×29,7 cm (DIN A4) / 2480×3508 pixel, maximum 7016×9933 pixel / 59.4×84.1 cm in 300dpi – please do not extrapolate) uploaded through the online entry form in either JPEG or TIF format.
3. Contributions must have a title and can include a short explanation using a maximum of 150 characters.
