The World Sight Day photo competition is live. Help mark #WSD2020 and draw attention to avoidable blindness and vision impairment.
The World Sight Day Photo Competitions are organised for World Sight Day to promote awareness about eye care and encourage people around the world to participate
World Sight Day (WSD) is an annual day of awareness held on the second Thursday of October, to focus global attention on blindness and vision impairment. World Sight Day 2020 is on 8 October 2020.
We know that over a billion people have a vision impairment that could have been treated or addressed. Prevalence of vision impairment in many low- and middle-income regions is estimated to be four times higher than in high-income regions.
2020 has been a year of extraordinary changes because of the COVID-19 pandemic raging across the world. Most countries have prioritized COVID-19 control and every aspect of the country’s health system has a role to play.
Yet, there is hope in sight. There are many innovations and models that eye health, which can positively impact health. With the theme “Hope in Sight”, IAPB encourages you to share photos that highlight the impact, the strength of our partnerships and highlight the importance of vision everywhere in the world.
This competition has been possible because of photographers from around the globe who have generously contributed their photographs.
Over 4353 eye care photos have been submitted since 2015.
Prizes:
•Professional – Cash prize of USD 1000
•Amateur – Canon 1200 D DSLR camera
Entry deadline: 8th October 2020
Winners will be announced on 15th October 2020
