Mountain Photo Essay Competition is now open and accepting entries. Each essay submitted is to consist of three (3) to five (5) images.
Submit photo essays to illustrate your mountain related stories whether they are culture, adventure, wildlife, sport, environment, or natural history.
You should include only those images required to tell their story – unnecessary images may reduce the overall impact of submissions.
Each essay submitted should consist of three to five images. Photo essays can be sequential in nature, intended to be viewed in a particular order, or they may consist of non-ordered photographs which may be viewed all at once to reveal their character and dynamics.
Mountain Photo Essay competition is open to amateur and professional photographers. Images must have been taken within the last two year (2018 – 2020).
Awards:
oThe Winner will receive a $2000 CDN* prize and an opportunity to attend the 2020 Banff Centre Mountain Film and Book Festival to receive their award.
oThe winning essay will be displayed as part of the 2020 Banff Centre Mountain Film and Book Festival exhibitions.
*It’s equivalent of €1317 Euro or $1441 USD
Banff Mountain Photo Essay Competition promote understanding and appreciation of the world’s mountain places by creating opportunities for people to share and find inspiration in mountain experiences, ideas, and visions. Other Mountain Culture programs include the Banff Centre Mountain Film and Book Festival and World Tour, a Mountain Photography Residency, and our tenday, world renowned Adventure Filmmakers Workshop. Literary Arts at Banff Centre also hosts a three-week Mountain and Wilderness Writing Program.
Entry deadline: 4th May 2020
The Grand Prize winner will be announced in June 2020
Image requirements: 1024 x 768 pixels; 72ppi; JPG format; no larger than 1MB in file size; sRGB colour space; no watermarking or digital mattes, frames, or borders.
