This award not only aims to honour the memory of Jalón Ángel as a photographer, but also as the founder of Grupo San Valero, a set of institutions for educational and vocational training at different levels and modalities.

For this reason, the winning categories are: Portrait, a genre in which he excelled on a national level; travel and traditions, to which he devoted much of his photographic creativity and, in this edition, the special category on the consequences of covid-19, where the human and social consequences of the global pandemic that we are experiencing due to covid-19 are compiled and reflected.

Ángel Hilario García de Jalón Hueto (1898-1976), better known as Jalón Angel, was one of the most prominent figures of portrait photography in Spain during his 50 years of professional career until his death in 1976. This photographer, who had a great social and human impact, began his early training in Logroño and perfected it in the first decade of the twentieth century, first in Lyon and then in Paris. In 1926, he settled in Zaragoza where he combined his most personal and creative photography, specialising in travel and urban and natural landscape, with his portrait work.

Prizes:

The best photograph in the “Portrait” category: 1,000 €
The best photograph in the “Travel” category: 1,000 €
The best photograph in the “Consequences of covid-19” category: 1,000 €

You may present a maximum of one photograph to each category.

Entry deadline: 16th May 2021

The winners, and the date of the official award ceremony, will be announced on 29th June 2021 on the Jalón Ángel Archive website (http://www.jalonangel.com) and its social networks.

Image requirements: jpg format, 300 pixels per inch and minimum size of short side 30 cm or 3500 ppp. Minimal retouching (lighting, contrast, colour balance) and do not deface the original shot. No signature, logo, initials, graphics frames etc.
