A prize that rewards the career of a professional European photographer over 60 years old, who is independent and still active. As a major player in the world of photography, Viviane Esders is continuing her commitment by creating the eponymous prize.

Viviane Esders created the Prix Viviane Esders after more than forty years in the art market as a gallery owner, photography expert and collector.

The Prix Viviane Esders aims to highlight the vision and itinerary of a life, that of photographers, authors whose medium has tirelessly animated Viviane Esders’ career since the 1980s. This prize reflects the coming together of two complementary and inseparable life paths, that of its founder, dedicated to understanding, loving and exhibiting photographers, and that of a photographer, dedicated to creation in the hope of creating a work of art.


•A financial endowment of €60,000 offered by Viviane Esders
•Part of which will be devoted to the potential usefulness of the grant as detailed by the candidate in his or her note of intent
•A part reserved by the winner (€10 000) for the production of a book on his or her work

Entry deadline: April 15th, 2022
The winning photographer will be announced in November 2022 during Paris Photo.

Enter a portfolio of forty images (with dates and titles or captions) summarising the photographic achievement (JPG format, each image file not exceeding two mega). The selection must be ac-companied by a short overall pre-sentation text and/or a short text per series of photographs
